SESoS/WDES 2021 will be virtual
Dear author,
We would like to announce that the ICSE 2021 is confirmed to happen on May 23-29, 2021, but it has been changed to a virtual format.
For more details, please refer to the message from Professor Natalia Juristo, ICSE 2021 General Chair, available at: https://conf.researchr.org/home/icse-2021
Best regards.
Scope
SESoS/WDES 2021 is the joint of the 9th edition of the International Workshop on Software Engineering for Systems-of-Systems (SESoS) and the 15th edition of the Workshop on Distributed Software Development, Software Ecosystems and Systems-of-Systems (WDES), co-located with the 2021 43rd International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) to be held online. It intends to be a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and experiences, analyze research and development issues, discuss promising solutions, and propose theoretical foundations for development and evolution of complex systems, inspiring visions for the future of Software Architecture for Systems-of-Systems (SoS), software ecosystems (SECO), and distributed software development (DSD).
Systems-of-systems (SoS) have become increasingly complex and frequently used in highly distributed, dynamic, and open environments. SoS refer to evolving software systems in which constituent systems (themselves systems in their own right) cooperatively work to fulfill specific, complex missions. The characteristics of this class of systems have raised substantial challenges to Software Engineering researchers and practitioners. Software ecosystems (SECO) have also become an important research topic in Software Engineering as it addresses social and technical issues along with technical aspects of software development. SoS and SECO are closely related and naturally distributed in development teams along with the inherent difficulties of coordination and communication. In this scenario, Distributed Software Development (DSD) deals with distributed resources to reduce cost and reach new Information Technology markets. Problems and challenges in software architectures are amplified and become more critical when SoS, SECO, and DSD need to be analyzed together.
The Joint 9th International Workshop on Software Engineering for Systems-of-Systems and the 15th Workshop on Distributed Software Development, Software Ecosystems and Systems-of-Systems (SESoS/WDES 2021) will provide researchers and practitioners with a forum to exchange ideas and experiences, analyze research and development issues, discuss promising solutions on Software Engineering for development and evolution of SoS, SECO, and DSD, as well as paving the way for a more structured community effort.
